History

This historic pub, dating back to the 17th century, is known for its flagstone floors, inglenook fires and its assoction with Prince Louis visit in 1216. The name 'Dolphin' was said to commerate the prince, as 'Dauphin', for his title of the french crownOrginally landlored by Frank Bridger Snr from 1862 to 1900, his son Frank Jr took over for 30 year after
The Dolphin also famously brewed its own beer and cider up until 1926.
The pub was later bought by Youngs in 1984, which operated as a traditional food-focused pub that many enjoyed.
In November 2024, Dorking Brewery took its ownership to secure its long-term future, marking the brewery's first freehold acquisition. To this day, it is still a local favourite.
