A Traditional Pub Experience

Alicia and the team welcome you to our traditional country pub, nestled in the lovely little village of Betchworth in the middle of the North Downs, Surrey. Often used for film settings, our location is the perfect country escape, within easy reach from London and public transport.

We pride ourselves on our friendly and personal hospitality. We welcome dog walkers, rambling groups and cyclists! Why not come and sample our freshly cooked food in our cosy beamed interior (it’s the best in Surrey!)

Peruse our seasonal menu, packed with substantial ‘Best of British’ dishes, served alongside a variety of real ales on our pumps and a delicious selection of gins and spirits on our back bar from the surrounding areas.

The Dolphin has a number of beautiful areas inside and outside, perfect for any event or celebration.  Our Head Chef has created seasonal dining menus and buffet menus to suit any occasion.  The Gun Room tucked away at the side of the pub is perfect for intimate gatherings, and even has its own little bar.

Our drinks range has it’s core Young’s Ales you all know so well, and the seasonal beer ‘Proper Job’.  We also have a range of ciders and local beers from Dorking Brewery and Surrey Hills Brewery, both only a few miles up the road.

Our History

It is thought that the name of the village inn, The Dolphin, commemorates Prince Louis’ visit in 1216.  French Crown Princes bear the title Dauphin (meaning dolphin), and his visit lingered long in local memory.
